my museum piece Worcester 280 which has given me flawless heat and water over the last 25yrs developed a leak over year ago(which stopped in the summer months) but now has steadily got worse. I took the cover off and delved inside and took the following picture. As you can see the leak is the diverter valve that appears to have corroded the internal metal plating. Do you think this is a scrapheap job. Thanks..

doesnt have to be, that is not part of the combustion chamber so may be salvagable, but you need to get the leak fixed or it will just get worse
It depends how much corrosion has been caused to the steel spigot...any corrosion in the groove and the O ring might not seal.
And if it's really rotten you might end up pushing the spigot through the backplane.

Thanks for replies. Have always been told parts for the 280 are obsolete. The DV works ok would i need new one or just O rings, also what would be an idea of a quote as there is quite a lot of parts in the way so looks like a fiddly job.

If you can find anyone willing to take it on (hourly rate charging most likely).
It's an easy job when there's no corrosion, only the vessel to come out by the look of it.
If the wireforms (clips) are plain zinc steel they might not even come out, sometimes cutting them and a ton of WD40 will get them out.
If stainless then maybe fine.
Either way you'd want a couple of 87161483210 to start with
and a seal pack..

and probably a 3/8 auto air vent.
Before contemplating any work the boiler needs to be assessed to see if it's safe...ie. checking the flue terminal for corrosion and other checks etc.
