Is this the lintel?

I've just taken the plaster off this fireplace and it looks to me that the v shaped brick in the middle is acting as a mini arch lintel but would have had whole bricks underneath at either side where the breeze blocks have been shoe-horned in?

I'm only opening up for decorative reasons so thinking to either replace the so-called arch with a new lintel or put in two full bricks underneath arch.

Any thoughts?
