It looks like a very short pile so would be tricky to hide I should think?

professional carpetfitters - who are not cheap. Ive plenty of carpet - should i ask them to redo it or is that not fair?

I have had lots of short pile carpets fitted in our L shaped hall where I have lived for the last 30 years. Actually it is a bit more than an L shape. Largish entrance hall, 90 deg left bend then a 90 deg right bend up a corridor. There has always had to be a join but I have never noticed it. If they are "professionals" then they should be able to lay that carpet with no visible joins. I wouldn't accept that.

That does look a very distinct line, even for a loop pile carpet that can be tricky to seam cleanly. The image is a bit small and I can't zoom in, personally I'd hope our fitters could achieve a better finish than that, however it can depend on the quality of the carpet and even how stiff the particular patch is. One thing that is for certain, seams will always be most visible on the first day of fitting and will bed in over the weeks and months.

Personally, I'd at least ask them back to take a look.
