Is Trump an Imperialist dictator?

America's shale oil is relatively expensive to produce, and unprofitable when prices drop.

It is in for a hard time in the forthcoming US Trump Recession.

Yeah but "drill baby, drill" was a catchy phase for the morons. The dick heads swallowed it, hook lone and stinker*

*deliberate spelling error.

  • division of society into two camps, “the people” and “the elites”
(that division has always existed, it's alive and well and will never die)
  • a proud antagonism toward intellectuals
(intellectuals often get things wrong, their opinion/views should not be treated as gospel)
  • the rejection of culture and knowledge in favor of instinct
(To say Trump rejects culture is nothing short of laughable)
  • the promotion of polarizing views
(yeah cause he's the only politician to do that ;))
  • demonization of one’s opponent
    (see above)
  • a contempt for judiciary, military, and political powers
(wrong, he only holds contempt for obvious bias, that's all)
  • a strong intolerance of free press
(only those who print fake news about him)
  • inciting hatred of foreigners
(Deary dearey me, you really must try harder)
  • Nationalism
(the loss of retaining at least a degree of nationalism has led to the mess the EU/UK and other western countries are now in)

It's a couple of dozen dollars a barrel from Saudi onshore, where reserves are huge, and Russian oil, though widely varying, is under $10.

The next push for US production is deep underwater in the Permian basin , which costs less that sands oil to produce but not that much.

If T thinks he's going to rule the market, he's goofed. Again.

"US backtracks on Canada-Mexico tariffs in latest sharp shift on trade
Move expands one-month carve-out for car imports to all USMCA-compliant goods with possibility of longer reprieve"

Donald Trump’s administration has backtracked further from its threat to impose sweeping 25 per cent tariffs on Mexico and Canada, in a major climbdown from its aggressive trade agenda.

In the second U-turn in two days, the US president signed an executive order on Thursday saying that all goods that met the rules of a 2020 free trade deal with the US’s neighbours would be granted a one-month reprieve from the duties.

The move caps a tumultuous week that has roiled markets and frayed diplomatic relations between the US and its largest trading partners. On Wednesday, Trump had said that just carmakers compliant with the USMCA would be granted a month-long carve-out."

In his first address to Congress since beginning a tumultuous second term, US President Donald Trump proudly claimed on Tuesday night that he was “just getting started”. That is a bad omen for the world’s largest economy. The optimism among companies and investors that came with the businessman’s election victory is rapidly waning. After the president confirmed tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China on Monday night, the S&P 500 initially erased all the gains it had made since the November polls. Consumer confidence has plunged. Manufacturers are reporting steep declines in new orders and employment, and bearish investor sentiment has shot well above its historic average.

Uncertainty is clouding the data and forecasts. Still, it is clear that the president has squandered what was a decent economic inheritance. Not long ago price pressures were fading, the US Federal Reserve was on the cusp of a steady rate-cutting cycle into a resilient economy, and the S&P 500 was gliding upwards. This is no longer true.

The depressing turnaround is a product of the administration’s pursuit of on-and-off import duties, and a chaotic policy agenda. The White House may believe it has a plan but America’s economic exceptionalism, from its relentless consumer spending and booming stock market to its reputation for dependable economic governance, is the collateral damage."

I thought he was voted in on his strengths with the economy? The bloke is a financial joke and isn't fit to be in charge of the dinner money.

Trump - worse than Brexit. (n)

the following accurately describes the tactics of Trump and Farage:

You have not provided any counter argument, instead you have resorted to ad hominem attacks…..clearly you get angry when your prejudice based on your own insecurities is challenged.

I suggest you spend some time learning about right wing populism, then you will discover I am correct and you’ve been uninformed.

Enjoy

If Trump seeks to damage their neghbour canada

Has trump given any thought about Alaska ??

Yes we all know you quote that same old rhetoric stuff from other people's sites all the time. It iis not evidence for anyhing except your blinkered vision. One can and people do quote other websites back at you. But you only want yours to count.

Don't be silly I'm not angry. What a puerile assertion to make.
WHat am I insecure about then, sonny?? I can read all the websites.

Yes we know trump does a lot of biz\zarre things.
So what?
Nobody's aguing with that

What straw man are you trying to create now?
Is it just to create arguments so you can spend your ENTIRE day on this forum?

You are the epitome of a troll, aren't you.

Er, he already has dominion over Alaska. They bought it quite a while ago.
The murricans are already maknig a mess of the place. The oil pipeline reached capacity decades ago. Now it's well into being too old to be reliable. Driving along its route ( that's where "the" road, the Dalton Highway, goes), there's plenty of evidence of leaks and repairs. But they're still drilling more wells.

Trump is now seen as quite likely to take the USA - and others like us with it - into economic recession, if not stagflation
China's not looking very good. They'll be battling with Mark Carney over grain.
Other emerging markets are suffering because of trump.
Japan is worried about trumps tariffs.
China has release Deepseek as open source, not good for US giants.
Adani Energy, biggest in Inda, slipped to Junk status.
Buy gold, Treasuries. AI while the bubble lasts.

I liked Trump and agreed with his policies but now I am really beginning to rethink my position on him. I do not think he was such a good choice of a world leader and it is quite worrying that he is acting like a real lunatic. He isn't making very good decisions and is actually doing more harm than good.

But how do they have access ? To Alaska ?

Land route is via Canada ?
