I'd heard in the past about large communities of people in Bristol living in vans. Since my foray into the world of campervans having made my own I've looked at quite a few facebook groups, vanlife UK, vanlife cornwall. Initially it seemed to be a social thing, organised rallies and meets but the more I read, the more staggering it becomes just how many people are living in vans full time. There are a minority who have opted for a simpler lifestyle, sold their houses and bought a van, they've bought freedom. But it's alarming how many tens of thousands are living in vans because they simply have no other choice.

Many people choose to live on boats. It's a lifestyle choice.

Because it's a complex problem, just like the motivation for asylum seeking is a complex issue.
To simplify issues into a simple black or white choice is to waste the opportunity to do some real good.
When that issue is exploited to provide an opportunity to spout people's personal prejudice is false, exploitative and opportunistic.

I do agree it's complex, and not easy to fix....but....

NO. A distinct lack of respect for those who offered their lives for their country only for their country to turn its bck on them. Disgraceful.

Asylum seeking is not illegal.

Ex-service men will have sufficient funds and assistance for accommodation, should they choose to use it for that accommodation.

They also have access to resources like the Veterans Housing Advice (VHA) website and services for temporary and long-term housing for veterans.

You won't get it because lefties are entitled and feel above anyone who would fight for their country, they view soldiers as lowly people who have nothing in life other than to fight their enemys so they don't have to.
