Jablite loft conversion

Hi guys new to the forum I have a question I'm hoping someone can answer, I'm planning my loft conversion and wondered if I can use jablite insulation instead of celotex for building regs ? Help would be much appreciated

Jablite is polystyrene which is only about 1/2 as thermally efficient as Celotex, so you would need twice the thickness of Jablite to attain the required insulation value, which does not work well in lofts as it reduces your headroom.

Also, it is vapour-permeable, so you would need a vapour control layer to stop condensation forming; the regular PIR boards have foil facing which acts as a vapour barrier.

You can use whatever insulation you like, but the less efficient the insulation the more of it you need, and the thicker the wall or roof needs to be.

Even if insulation is free if it's less efficient, you will pay more for it over time due to greater heat loss.
