Japanese chisels

But what we all want to know is whether Japanese chisels are any good for opening tins of paint.

I'll stick with my old of wooden handled Marples chisels thanks.
Now that said I was over at a friend's house some months back and was in need of a couple of chisels to help him out with a new door lock, so we popped out to the local DIY shop and bought a set of 5 really cheap beveled edge chisels for £8 as job needed to be done that afternoon. That set really surprised me and back here the rest cut well, keep their edge and sharpen up a treat, so name/brand is not really a guide to quality.

I looked into this years ago and decided to get a decent European style set, Kirschen and later on Narex.

Stanley 5001 are very good chisels, they stopped selling them in the 80s but are always available on eBay, although they be a bit pricey as sought after
