Anyone recommend any good job hunting sites on the internet where you can upload your CV?

Thanks in advance.

Electrical fitter/Armature winder.

Basically, repair electric motors/generators and associated equipment including gearboxes, pumps, actuators etc. Like to think I can turn my hand to most things and am always willing to learn new skills.

THE PROBLEM IS WITH THESE SITES OR THAT MOST OF THEM OR C.V
builders then they use everyones credentials to tender for contracts
once they gain the contract they ring back the jobseeker offering say
£12. hour the jobseeker says yes then they ring up the next job seeker
on their list who have sent in their c.v and offer £10. per hour and so on.

if i where you i would keep well away has the sharks are in a feeding frenzy at the moment. Its like i said its every man for himself at the moment

Thanks Bob.
Probably not much use to me anyway as armature winding is a bit of a specialist trade that not many people have heard of and most vacancies are heard of through 'word of mouth'.
Thanks anyway.

Unless your cv is exceptionally good, or you have something exceptional to offer, cv websites are very low on the list of successful ways to find work.

The most effective way is to go to a library, find a REAL librarian, and ask for advice.

Finding work, even in a recession, is remarkably simple, provided you have something to offer.

The is not new. In days gone by you would give your CV to a recruitment agency and, if you were lucky, they sent you for an interview. More than once I was sent to interviews for non-existent jobs. One interviewer made no bones about it: "I haven't got any jobs. I'm just finding out who might be available before I tender for the contract."

The biggest losers in this scam were the agencies themselves who did all the work for nothing. No job = now pay = no commission. :( :( :(

I learnt something else during my time on the dole. If a job has a very short closing date it's probably gone already. This applies particularly in the public sector where employers are obliged to advertise jobs even though they already know who's going to get it.

But don't let any of this put you off. If you don't apply for a job you certainly won't get it!

With an average ratio of something like 20.000 jobseekers sending a c.v. for every 1 that gets a job out of it, you wonder what the purpose of these sites is.
Figures are a few years old, so may have gone up or down

Thanks for the replies guys, especially Blas for being so helpful.
Armature winding can also go under guises such as 'Rotating machine repairs', Electro-mechanical machine fitting etc. You have to be able to read between the lines of some adverts to see what they are advertising.
Will try Totaljobs later and see whats on offer. Hopefully I will not be picked for redundancy but just want to be prepared in case it does happen so will have to update my CV later on.

Talking of job advertising, saw one once for an, 'Environmental Health Technician Co-ordinator.' Turned out to be for someone to work out the routes for the local bin collection! I ask you!
So as I said, read between the lines!
PS I'll do anything so long as the money is decent and I'm not taken for granted.

i actualy served my time as a armature winder, like you indicated bit of a shrinking market
you may want to track down a company called alpha rewinds skelmersdale and ask for paul and see whats happening
do you remember massey coggins?
good luck
bob

Hi Bob,
thanks for the tip. Know a little of Alpha, my cousin used to be some sort of supervisor there many years ago. Skem isn't too far away from where I am so if things go belly up where I am I'll give him a call. just a case of waiting at the moment to see what will happen over the next month.
Remember the name of Massey Coggins, Wavertree way, most of the skilled men I worked with as an appo came from there.
Once again, thanks for that.

PS What are you involved in now?
