I'm laying concrete slabs with sand between the joints. I was wondering how I do the edges, because I would expect the sand to fall out if there isn't something solid there (like sand an cement).
I have two ideas at the moment:
1. Contrasting setts and use sand and cement, but the joints may look a bit large/unusual.
2. Sand and cement at the edge of the slabs e.g. 50mm from the edges. Again, this may look a bit strange.
My plan was to have haunching at the edges and then pea gravel at the edges. The haunching wouldn't be to the top of the surface, so it wouldn't keep much of the sand in.
