Jointing compound and slabs: Salvagable?

I have spent the entire weekend meticulously cleaning out sand and debris between paving slabs to repoint. Have installed Silka jointing compound – all weather - compacted it down, ensured slabs were wet beforehand and well drained, temperature was above 15 and weather dry. Woke up this morning and found it was still complete powder.

What’s going on? I would think that even if it’s taking a couple of days to cure-though timings listed at 6-12 hours - it would have started curing and it would be at least a bit firm?

Have a big event coming up and can’t use garden-am I over panicking or will this just take a couple of days? Last time I used a similar product it cured in 24 hours.

thanks!

I believe both the slabs and the joints should be wet when applying.

Check you've applied exactly as per instructions. If you have, then you just have to wait longer.

Just done this job and it can take a couple of days for the resin to set. Give it time. I used a number of tubs and the first one in cooler weather took 3 days to set.

A few weeks later and it's all set hard as rock.

Thanks! Instructions were to wet slabs, but not wet afterwards – definitely followed to the letter. Absolutely shocked with current results.

this makes me feel so much better; I nearly had a heart attack when i checked in this morning ready to seal. It took 1 1/2 tubs of jointing compound – can I ask what you used?

That’s what i did - Silka all weather dark buff, indian sandstone… and you could scoop it up with a spoon still
