Hi,

Can anyone offer any advice..

we have a dormer bungalow. Most joists supporting 1st floor internal walls are double, however this one is single. The wall runs parallel to the joist. They have put noggings at 350 to join a joist to one side across a supporting wall, but they are only 4x2 and are not resting across the supporting wall.

blue shows the upstairs internal wall, red shows noggings.

Is this ok in your view/experience.

Hollie6464, good evening.

A couple of questions, if I may please?

1/. You say "across a supporting wall" what is the wall supporting? or is it a partition wall.

2/. What is the wall made of? is it timber stud / plasterboard or is it brick / block?

Ken.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your reply.

sorry the ‘supporting wall’ on the ground floor is actually more of a brick partition wall, however a steel has been added to the end.

on the first floor the walls are all timber stud and plasterboard.

does that help?
