What amperage junction boxes \\\'can\\\' be used on the various circuits in the home, i.e. if the downstairs circuit is 6 amps, is it still safe to use a 20 amp junction box? (a brief list would be great). Also, can someone explain the difference between the large white juntion boxes and the small brown ones of the same amperage please, if there is any. Thanks P

you can always use a bigger rated jb on a lower rated circuit, but you can not do vice versa.

some jbs have 3 terminals and some have 4 although both are of the same current rating

Lights are 5/6 amp
sockets are 30 amp
showers 30 -45 amp
