Hello, since my wife cleaned our free standing kenwood cooker (gas hob, electric fan oven). Every time we turn the oven on, it trips the house electrics.

The fan is still working, as is the smaller oven to the side of the main oven.
Its just when we try and turn the temperature knob to use the main oven, it trips.

Ive removed the back cover to expose the circular element and fan, the element has what can only be described as a small split in it. Not all the way through, a kind of surface split. Not sure if this affects anything.

Any ideas please??

Might try a heater for an hour or so, would it be damp?

and start saving up for a new element. Your old one has failed.

Disconnect & insulate the supply wires to the element & try it again, if it does not trip then your element is faulty.

Ive tried drying it out, so it looks as though the element has failed...

Thanks for the replies, advice and help...
