Hi can anyone suggest what is wrong with my mixer please?
It is a Kenwood chef A901P, turning on it kicks once and stops, I managed to find my way into it and checked the brushes they look fairly good, free to move, no burning, about ¾" long and when the retaining plate is removed the springs pop out ¼" or so.
Spinning the motor when on does not help.
You can get a repair kit with a number of resistors and capacitor, I see also the brush retainers have a small component in them I have seen these plates also listed as including a capacitor, as a separate service item, but no idea if any of these bits will help.
It's getting on now but new ones ain't cheap and it seems a waste to scrap it unless it is really knackered.
