Van starts first time some days, but then about every 2 days or so I put the key into the ignition & turn on for glow plug warm up, but the key code light does not go out, turn to start engine starter operates but no firing. If I leave the motor & try it again later the light usually goes out & it starts. This problem seems to happen if the van has been run & switched off & on again after a short period. Also tried using the spare key with the same results. Any help please?

there is a pick up ring that sits around the ignition switch that picks up the transponder in the key, these do go faulty and are available from the dealers to change yourself. It may be worth trying a key recode procedure first though if you can find it online

Most of the time it's the key. the transponder on the board suffers from hair line crack on the solder. some times if you take key apart you can push down on the transponder and it will work. you can get a decoder now which fits into the EOBD socket and then you don't have to have the chip in the key, these are about £100 and are well worth it. Just find yourself a good auto locksmith.

ive never seen or heard of these and would be surprised if you could buy them as they would by pass the immobiliser and allow easy theft of the vehicle?
