Hi all,

Having had the bathroom replastered, we will be painting directly onto plaster.

I intend to do a mist coat with cheap white matt emulsion.

Following that we will be painting with a colour. I had originally intended to use kitchen and bathroom paint, but is it worth the extra?

Also, would I be better with matt or silk finish. I have always used silk in the past but does matt look better on fresh plaster (have read this somewhere).

Cheers
Dan

from what I know kitchen and bathroom paint is designed to tollerate more moisture. I used it in the kitchen as it can be washed down when it is covered in food. Probably worth it if the area will get wet.

On the other hand, in my hallway I used a cheap 'trade' emulsion and it seems like I could wipe all the paint away with just a damp J-cloth!!

I think its gimmicky krap..goes on like glue and has a tendency to run and sag.

Id opt for acrylic eggshell...which is more or les the same thing but flows better.

Just thin it down a bit. It's much tougher than ordinary paint.
