Kitchen extractor tee?

Hi. I am putting a new extractor hood in my kitchen. The wall it will be fitted to is 10" thermalite block with my garage on the other side.
My question is, I already have an extractor running through my garage from a downstairs toilet/shower, so rather than cutting another hole into the garden, is it possable to tee into the existing "exhaust"? If so, where would I find a suitable tee?
I would imagine that it would need something to stop the shower blowing into the kitchen, and vica versa.

Any thoughts would be helpfull.

You could do it, but it would cause suction and inefficiency problems to both extractors - plus possible condensation/grease build up in the one duct not used when the other is.

This type of arrangement will only work properly if there is a single high powered fan at the end of the duct sucking air from both inlets - but thats in the area of a commercial system.

Ok Woody, thanks for the reply, I thought there might be a simple solution to this, but never mind.
