I'm putting in cable for a kitchen extractor while my cieling is being replaced. I'm not getting the extractor yet just putting in cable ready.

There seem to be two ways to wire in the extractor. an extractor on a spur with a pull switch. or one with a seperate on off switch - similar to how a light is wired up.

is there an advantage of one over the over? the ones with a pull cord seem to be more expensive and less powerful (a lot less air flow per hour).

and all of them seem to be wired from the lighting circuit but a freind of mine has his on his ring main (like that when he bought the house). can you use a 2.5mm cable to wire something that only needs a 1.5mm cable?

thanks.

Your friend probably has a switched fuse in circuit somwhere (at least i hope he does)with a 3a fuse and wired in 1.5 or 1.0 from there to fan.
The type of fan is down to you,but a pullcord can be a real pitb if in a window over the worktop. IMHO go for a normal switched fan.

By the way, THIS COMES UNDER "PART P"
