kitchen light problem

hello there

i have a problem with my kitchen light, i am unsure of the exact technical details of the light apart from there are 4 small halogen spot type bulbs.

on a morning when it is first switched on it can take anything up to 10 'switching ons' before they stay lit. The circuit does not trip the lights come on briefly, then quickly fade away. This keeps happening with the time before they fade away a little longer each time.
It seems the colder the night has been the more attempts are needed.

One last point when the light has been on for 3 or 4 hours it will go off by itself, we wait 15/20 mins and can then switch it back on

The Transformer is Knackered.

No other problem. Replace the transformer, or track if it is integral to the track, this will cure the problem.
