Kitchen mixer tap - cold water flow significantly reduced

Hi,

I have a mixer unit on the kitchen sink with one cyclindrical unit two tops on either side. The pressure has been fine for years for both hot and water but today when I was running the cold tap the flow just suddenly reduced to a trickle. Sounded as if something had just blocked the pipe.

The hot water side is still ok and no issue with pressure. The toilets seem ok and refill. and the cold taps upstairs dont seem to have an detrioration in pressure.

Any ideas? is there a seperate valve in the mixer tap that could have failed just for the cold element?

Hope I put enough information and not left anything obvious out...

or new taps would be a good investment
