kitchen mixer tap pressure

The hot water pressure on the hot water of our kitchen mixer tap has recently gone to virtually zero. Cold is fine. I have removed the tap head & cover & found that if I loosen the hexagonal nut slightly, replace the cover & tap head, all is fine. I am worried though that by loosening the hexagonal nut, I may be inviting trouble (leaks?). Does the mechanism need replacing or the washer replacing or what? Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Depends on the type of tap. Two separate heads or just one? Quarter turn por conventional.... If two, and conventional, dismantle, descale, grease (silicone grease, or vaseline at a pinch) and reassemble with a new washer.
