given my scribing skills aren't fantastic. I have a tracksaw maybe I should try it. I'm a bit nervous though.

Under the highest part of the floor there is around a 1-2mm gap just enough to get the plinth under. That then runs down to about 12-13mm under the lowest part of the floor.

Question is, is 12-13mm acceptable? I think it can only be seen if you put your eyes right down but not sure about other issues it might cause ?

I aim for 2mm or less, so for me 12mm would be a gaping chasm. I generally use a jigsaw to scribe to floors as they aren't going to be flat (at least not in my experience). Washer and pencil to mark the scribe line. Make sure you seal the scribed edge with something like clear silicone
