New kitchen installed put in ,the new sink connected by plumber with the external 40mm drain pipe from kitchen sink /dishwasher adapter running out into drain via grated gully (you can see the water drop 1" above drain grate). Is this best practice as grate will be blocked by leaves and flood.
The old sink drainage was connected to soil pipe. Should the new sink be connected to soil pipe instead.
Want to make sure before taking issue with them.

No problem discharging into a gully.

You can buy drain covers for a few dollars. ;)

Current Building Regs state waste pipe should terminate beneath the grid. If its an iron grid then look at replacing with a plastic version, then extend waste below grid.

Thanks Hugh ,yes it's a removable 6" sq iron gully grid, I'll take your advice and get plastic and extend through circle bit in grid. Looks a bit untidier than going into soil pipe though.
