Hi, anyone got any ideas. water runs maybe an inch every hour. no blockage though. standard p trap with the washing machine waste coming in at the top. wshing machine waste goes into the sink now. What a pain. Dirty dishes everywhere. Flat mate wrecking my head.

well it must be if it is not running.
Take the trap off and rod the waste pipe run. If you have a water enabled hoover - like any good plumber should) then suck the wotsits out of the pipe.

You should also check the pipes outside and the drain into which it runs - if this is blocked than it can supply sufficient stoppage within the pipe
the waste pipe could be frozen, but technically still blocked with ice!!
