Kitchen Sink Pipes

Hi, can anyone help. Our kitchen sink pipes have been leaking for a week, we've isolated the leak to the right side. There is a pipe without what I'd image should be a screwed on end piece ? (I will attach a picture), we've placed a bucket under the leak temporarily.

FYI, I'm not much of a diy guy... yet.

You can actually see it leaking in the second image, any thoughts?

Excellent - that's a plastic washingmachine tap. In theory you should be able to turn it off fully

Thanks for the fast reply. I can't see any other leaking. Can you advise how I would do this? I will update you with how it goes!!!

You need a cap like the one on the lower tap. It's a "3/4 BSP blank nut" from Screwfix (or a plumbers merchant) should come with a rubber washer inside. If you can't get to a Screwfix store then just describe what you want to do at a plumbers merchants.

I've turned it to be fully closed. Seems all good now, thanks fr the advice. Any need for it to be open slightly ?

No need at all, but to be 100% sure get a cap

As @Nige F mentions, always cap an appliance valve. They have a nasty habit of leaking when you don't know about it. A brass blanking cap will do as is on your other valve, or an appliance plastic cap will suffice and can be done up finger tight.
