I have been told a new system to house may require a boost tank and pump to improve water pressure and flow. I wonder if the kitchen tap is normally served from this boosted or is it fed off the normal mains supply (i.e. un-boosted)

Its a tap in the house that is used more frequently than others, would this mean the pump would start and stop sporadically.

How is it normally installed?

it will almost certainly be meain pressure at that tap.

cup the spout of the tap with your hand and turn on the cold, if you cannot hold it back then it is most likely mains.
