Hi all,

My kitchen tap (hot) operates ok except that it does not stop at "off" position any more. When I turn it off it keeps turning and then snaps to max power. I have removed the outer casing but can't see any further in.

Any ideas why this happens? Even better; how I can stop this happening?

It's not an emergency (at the moment!) as I can turn it off but would like to fix anyway. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Dave

If the washer is really worn this can happen. but its usally if its an old tap & the last threads worn.If its a tap with a nut holding the washer on you can sometimes put 2 washers on as a temp/ repair until u buy tap reviver repair kit or new taps.

Breezer and Bab, thank you for your quick replies.

Its a new tap (two years old), with a shrouded case. I have removed this case but am unable to go any further. The only nut I can see won't budge (I think it is possible that it has corroded). Below this nut is a washer of perhaps 2mm thickness. Would this be what is bust? I am worried that if I force the nut too much I might cause myself a bigger problem than I have now.

Any further thoughts?

Thanks again.
