I would appreciate any help/advice someone could give me on this problem which has me scratching my head.

I recently moved into a house with an open vent ch system and gravity hot water - not sure thats relevent but....

I had very poor flow from the hot water tap in the kitchen - the immersion tank is on the 1st floor and the water butt is in the loft...

Hot water from bath and sink on the 1st floor is fine; no problems at all. I also have a hot water feed for a washing machine in the kitchen (ground floor), which is unsed, and the pressure is great.

So, I've replaced my kitchen tap (mixer before and after) and still have very poor flow. I have checked the flow from after the service valve and that's fine.

I have swapped over the hot and cold flexi-hoses to the tap so the cold is running through the hot and vice versa. The cold runs fine but the hot is still bad.

Help... I'm confussed...

Thats your problem then they are mains pressure taps.

You have around 15ft from kitchen tap to cws in loft that = 0.5 bar max
You got 1-5 bar taps you need low pressure taps ie 0.2bar.

Plus flexis are small bore and will resrict flow.
You may have a small bore isolation valve.

Yes they help.
But in your case your going to still need to change the taps to lower pressure
or your not gaining anything.
The internals are designed for mains pressure thats why your cold is ok.
