Hi,

I've recently bought a house and the kitchen has a pointless wall in it which separates the back door from the rest of the kitchen. We're going to knock this out as it wastes a good 3 by 6 metres of space plus the size of the wall!

Only problem is the gas electric and water are all on or in the cupboard in this wall.

We've contacted the gas and electric about moving the mains, but who moves the water pipe? Can the builder or is that also owned by a third party? We're also getting rid of the 1960's boiler and putting a combi in, which means moving pipe work anyway.

Also is it worth having a new kitchen put in all at the same time so the pipes can be connected for an oven or can this be done after?

A plumber should be able to sort your water supply out.
The gas pipe for the cooker can be connected at anytime, but will be best if you have not laid a new floor and the plumber has access to under the floorboards, providing it's not a stone floor that is, then the pipes will be run above the floor.

Services should be moved before you put a new kitchen in anyway. Gas, electrics and water should at least be run to where you will need them. It's very difficult to run services once the kitchen is fitted. PLAN AHEAD ;) ;) ;) ;)
