knocking out under stairs cupboard

After my next door neighbour who lives in the other side of my semi showed me around her house, I realised that she has a massive cupboard under her stairs which is used as an office, mine has a tiny door and has been boxed in, is it a good idea to just knock the boxing out or am I likely to make the stairs fall down ?

I doubt that removing a non-load bearing partition will cause anything to even move, never mind fall down.

Can you post pics, just to be on the safe side.

Have you considered any elec or gas meters, or water shut-off possibly located in the cupboard.
