Knots in wood leaking

A door which has already been painted is leaking resin through multiple knots - looks awful.

Can you apply knot seal paint over the top of gloss paint (if rubbed down well) or would I have to strip the whole door.

Grateful for any advice.

As you mention if you rub down the surface then apply a coat of Smith & Rodger's Multiseal finished with another coat of paint the knots will not appear again.
