Hi,

Moved in to my house a couple of years ago and now getting round to re painting upstairs doors.
They look knotty pine doors and now knots are showing through.
They are white gloss.

Was thinking of sanding down the knots carefully to bare wood and applying knotting solution before undercoating whole door and re gloss. Would this work?

You don't need to sand it right down to bare wood, just sand as normal to provide the key for the new coats of paint and apply the knotting then, a little wider than the knots. I did that in our house and it worked just fine.

If it's really bad scrape and sand it back

But if it's just a bit of background yellowing do as said above ......lightly sand , apply two coats of knotting or knotting primer ensuring you go wider than the stain ......then paint over as usual
