Hi,
I have some painted internal woodwork (softwood) that has brown knot stains coming through, I did not put any knotting on before I painted the wood, what would be the best way to cure this problem now.
I believe that zinsser BIN will do the job but don't know for sure...
It is a shellac based primer and knotting is shellac as well so I think it'll do, but would love for someone to back me up !
I ought to add that I have used it in the same situation and so far it has worked (3 years on) so hope I am not talking pants as I often do..
Steve's suggestion may well work. Even fresh knotting solution over bare knots is not guaranteed to work though. Personally I find decent WB primers are better than plain old OB primers wrt knotting
