Labour and conservatives are on the ropes.

To use the boxing analogy of your title, I think this is why Reform is pushing for a 2027 election. They do indeed feel they have the established parties on the ropes, to what extent is open to debate. So they understandably want to finish the fight. A 2029 election could be dangerous for them, as it gives times for said parties to extract themselves from the ropes, draw breath, and start to counterpunch.

They can push all they want but they won't get one!

Looking likely Starmer will be gone by Spring, if the Budget doesn't finish him the local elections will. I dread to think what will come next as there really isn't a pool of talent in Labour (or Consertives or at the moment, Reform)
Talks of Andy Burnham being parachuted in for a leadership challenge, I think he would be the only leadership contender.

To be fair the Tories have woken up to the opportunity to expose Starmer's poor decision making on Mandleson. Labour are waking up to the fact their only chance of a second term is to replace Starmer.

Burnham fancies his chances and would be worse than starmer.

Re form are counting on bad local elections results for the two main parties over the next few years, piling on the pressure by calling for, or rather assuming, there will be a 2027 general election. Unless Kieth starts playing dirty, he’ll feel forced to call one or carry on as a lame duck til 29 . I feel sorry for the King, on the third state visit he will have Trumpf on one side and Far rage on the other.

latest polls show gap between Labour and Reform is closing with just 6% gap now on yougov

I don't really blame folk for thinking about voting Reform. Ok you have to try and maintain a degree of balance about our socioeconomic state, however what do folk see? Failing public services, increasing costs, the immigration debacle etc.

Farage would be massively worse than Liz Truss who got beaten by a soggy lettuce
A Reform government would certainly be interesting. During their press conference the other day, Farage didn't hide the fact they would be taking the fight to the civil service, unions and so on. Essentially doing what they can to force change.

It's slightly amusing to think there could be some who vote Reform, then if Reform get in, find themselves out of a job after Reform's DOGE deems their job excess to requirements.

Do people think when they vote reform or are they driven by emotion? Far rage is the life and soul of the city traders boozy lunches, but can he regulate the City or the banks, and make the nuanced economic decisions that Rache is making?

My personal opinion?

Parliaments - necessarily - go in cycles. Expecting everything to be done in the first year or so of a first term, then just cruising along for the remaining 40+ months until the next GE, is not realistic, and not how it works (history shows this).
All oppositions try to throw as much shade on the government, all of the time.

Plus, Reform have to try and chivvy it along, as I reckon they won't last until 2029.
