Laid new topsoil and turf - very soggy

Mostly, it was a success...

Put down 10t of topsoil and then turf on top.
The far-away end is quite a bit higher (24") than the closer end so we put a lot more soil up there.
Walked and raked the soil but, in hindsight, definitely didn't compact the higher end enough.

Now it is like marshland. Me in my boots sinks 8" into the mud.

What to do? Obviously I'm not going to water that end anymore. Just wait for everything else to bed in and then pour more earth and turf up the top end?

It shouldn't be soggy, it should drain well if it hasn't been compacted. However it will be soft and will sink as you walk on it and compress it.
