Hi there,

I hope some of you experts can help me out. Any advice would be much appreciated. I will be laying laminate in the next few days in the hallway. I have undercut all architrave and skirting is all off. My problem is I ordered some thresholds with the floor as i need to go around 3 doors. The thresholds are 48mm so if I lay it to the stop on the door liner as I have read it needs to sit, it sticks out into the hallway with a straight cut where I trim the threshold. It's not going to look very professional. I will attach a few pics.

Would it be better to get a 35mm stick on threshold maybe? First time I have done this so any advice at all is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Are smaller thresholds not available? It's not like you need to do them at the exact same time as the floor.

I can only see thinner thresholds for laminate to carpet. Or am I missing something here. I wanted to get them first as I don’t know how much space to leave if I was to find thinner ones. I’m a little stumped on this, that’s why I asked the question

Metal style threshold should look good if you want an immediate alternative, the best ones clip into a U channel you put down first so no screws on display, others like Z style squash into shape.

Also possible(?) this larger one can be cut neatly and a new edge made with something like a edging cutter.

Specialist thresholds can get quite spendy but you only need to do it once. Usually they are 3 in 1 style application and require cutting to use.

Yea this one is a 3 in 1 that snaps into a base. But unfortunately too deep.

hmmm edging cutter is beyond my capabilities I think lol.

Edge of a metal ruler or similar can also work, if you can't return them then might be worth a go.

Can't tell how thick it is, so you might be right and it would look wrong.

It’s 12mm laminate with a 5mm underlay. I’m sitting hear searching the internet. The only 35mm bar I can see is laminate to carpet. Do you think I could use one of these thresholds and knock the spikes flat that are supposed to go into carpet?
