Hi there,

I have recently had a laminate floor installed at home, which whilst it looks great there does seem to be an element of bounciness in certain parts. The part in question had had some water damage on the subfloor which the contractor replaced (see photos).

What I am wondering, is what other steps could be taken to remedy this bounce, or have they done everything they can here. As you can see area under the particleboard/chipboard is a strange polystyrene affair covered in plastic...

Thanks in advance... its the first wooden floor I have ever had installed so not sure if this is a good job in need of further work on the subfloor, or just a bad job.

I assume that the sub-floor is a suspended T&G boarded floor? Is that a solid floor kitchen to the left?

Where did the damp that shows in pic 1. come from? What investigations have been made below the floor? Pic 1. showed buckled material on the left hand side - without remedial treatment your new floor will also buckle.

That doesn't look like a professionally thorough job - i cant see any remedial treatment for the staining/damp, no screw heads are showing on the chipboard surface, has it been glued down?
Is the blue sheeting a membrane? I'm not too sure about the plastic over a wood sub-floor.
Were the larger gaps in the chipboard cover filled?
