Laminate or Wood Floor - Difference hard to tell sometimes?

I had started off looking for engineered wood flooring, but am coming to the conclusion that the difference between cheap wood and good laminate is hard to tell the difference ... or is it just me!

Some of the laminates that have a grain effect look very nice, I would struggle to tell it wasnt wood ... some of the cheap engineered woods look cheap and nasty ...

Any comments?

Only comment I can give: you get what you pay for. Real wood is often higher in price, so cheap real wood is low in quality.
Laminate is not wood, so the more is sold, the lower the prices can go without effecting the quality.

But real wood is just that - real wood and if you invest in quality it will last a life time
