My house was built in 1987 and still has the original central heating system.
It knows! I'm about 2 months into a major extension which will shortly include a new boiler etc. Today, the control panel started making a "clockwork mechanism" sort of noise and I noticed that the timer stopped rotating. I've removed the unit from the wall, nothing externally, visually obvious and refitted it. Now, it no longer makes a noise but it no longer rotates. I can use the side switches to operate manually.
Any suggestions or recommendation from the forum, please?
Can it be fixed?
Is there a like-for-like, plug-in replacement available?
Is it better to call-in now a heating engineer to fit a more up-to-date replacement?
Appreciate any help, thanks in advance.
