IT will prove that the battery is goosed, the battery should not be used in it to smooth the supply.

If in doubt ask Dell.

I don't think it will run without the battery since I was surprised myself when someone was wanting to use there laptop in the same place and wanted to remove the battery since they did not need it. The laptop did not work. Put the battery back no problem.

But theres no harm in trying.
