Laurel bushes

My laurels have shown good growth so far this year. If i want to trim them now or in June, will that spur on further growth over summer, or once they have grown in the season does that remove any further growth.

I think your link gives the answer in the 2nd para.
I trim mine if shoots are going the wrong way & not where wanted. I am not bothered about them flowering.
