Its running out of fuel, basically.....is your machine the type with the tank below the carb, or the type with the tank wrapped around the engine - i.e gravity fed fuel?

These carburettors need to pump the fuel from the tank into a small holding chamber just below the main jet. To do this, there must be a connection of a rubber tube to the carb body - if this is missing / dislodged or whatever the carb can't pump.
There is also a diaphragm between the carb body and the tank....replace this as its also prone to failure.
If you have disconnected the carb from the tank, check the filters on the bottom of the two dip pipes for debris.
