Hi all

I am a new registered user on this forum so hello :D

I would like to lay a stone circle on top of existing concrete, the concrete is in good condition but isn't very attractive to look at. The idea is to lay a stone circle and loose stones surrounding with stepping stones through.

What should I lay the stone circle on? Is it ok to just lay it on sharp sand? Then do I just brush in the loose self setting cement? Will this be secure enough or have I got it all wrong?

Thanks Chrissie

Lay it on a bed of wet mortar, 5 sharp sand to 1 cement. (or plastering sand)

Don't point with a dry brush in mix or it will crack up in a year at best.

Use 4 plastering sand to 1 cement and mix it up so if you squeeze a ball of it in your hand water doesn't ooze out but the ball sticks together as one lump when you open your hand.

Then pack that in with a trowel and strike it with a jointing iron.
