Laying Floorboards - what pattern?

I'm just about to replace a chipboard floor with some wide softwood floorboards, on the original joists. The longest floorboard available is not wide enough to go across the whole room, so I'll nee to use at least 2 boards per run. What pattern should I be putting these boards in (i.e. how should I be staggering them)?
Any help will be massively appreciated.

are you buying your boards from a woodyard or the sheds!!!!

or are your rooms greater than 16ft!!!!
