Laying Granite paving

Hi, just layed a row of granite paving to find the mortar hasnt bonded to the slabs. Initial checks mentioned making the backside of the slab moist (watered), upon further reviews it appears a SBR slurry mix is required (bond bridge).
With slabs now back up, would it be ok to just use the slurry mix on top of the original mortar, or renew??

You might struggle.
Can you take 10mm off the mortar if its not fully cured?

Id just learn my lesson and start again.
I used to put loads of un-ibond and add plastisier to my mix for natural stone.
