Hi

I am looking at laying oak hardwood flooring in our hallway, the floor boards are mainly flat so I don't think that I will need to put a ply base down.

however I may so I can run the new planks in the same direction of the current boards.

my question is when secret nailing the hardwood planks is there an automatic version of one of these http://www.hss.com/g/52516/Overlay-Flooring-Nailer.html

or can i use a normal nail gun?

Given the small amount of flooring to fix, why not hand nail, using a light hand hammer, and a nail set. Or pilot hole and then hand nail?

Practice on some off-cuts.

Stay away from the larger tools.

Think thro the job, esp any transitions, or doorway thresholds ( your FFL will rise ), and loose lay before any nailing.
