I am doing out the bathroom and looking to top off my current chipboard with plywood before putting on some vinyl planks.

In terms of top tips and techniques to get a decent job done is there anything i should do or avoid?

the bathroom is v small (approx 2 x 2)

My main question is it better to fasten them down in larger sections (ie 2) or smaller, more manageable sections (4-6)

thanks for reading

Use 6mm plywood

a fitter would probrably do a room that size out of an 8 x 4 sheet cut down to fit

You would struggle this way! Try and fit as large a piece as you can - maybe 2 off 2 x 1???

6mm ply will cut fairly acurately using a sharp blade and a straight edge

you are aiming for very tight joints

you should choose a suitable length screw or ring shank nail and fix every 4 - 6 inches - Yes a lot of fixings! (and watch for pipes or wires underneath!!!!)

any slight gaps can be filled before laying your floor

pull up the horrible old chipboard and do it properly in 18mm WBP ply.

chipboard is a terrible material for floors, especially in places where it can get wet.
