Hi All,
I am replacing an old shower tray with a stone resin shower tray. The old shower tray was sitting on a standard 22mm chipboard (which has been used across the bathroom). Should I screw 12mm marine plywood over the chipboard? or replace the subfloor of the shower section with 18mm marine plywood? (I am tempted to do the latter)
If replacing a section of the subfloor, should I share the top of the joist for the edges of both chipboard and plywood sections? or use noggins for support and stop worrying about chipboard and ply edges trying to share a narrow joist surface? Alternatively, should I use support battens as opposed to noggins as a way to widen the joists for better support?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

PS: removing chipboard altogether is not practical as I would have to replace the whole bathroom floor
