lead lock lead to copper fitting. leaks

Hi Everyone.

I had a lead lock leaking and decide to replace it. I know few years ago plumber also struggled to get it working and keep tightening it worked fine for few years.

With cold weather it started leaking again. I looked into it and decide to replace it.

First issue is that the pipe is 20mm external and there is nothing to properly fit it. The 3/8 5lb is way to small and the 1/2 6lb way too large. It slide in very easy no need for push and when tightened still leaks a bit .

How do you work with those issue? any paste or some sealant?

If the brass grab ring is a loose fit on lead in a emergency I've cut a extra millimetre or so out to make grab ring tight fit.
