Hello everyone

First post - Thanks for having me on the forum :) I've had a wood stove installed and wondered if anyone can let me know if it has been done right where the flue comes out of the roof? Looking at other photos on the net at slate roofs they look different. I've taken some photos. The lead is on top of the slates and sealed with mastic, except at the top where it is under the slates and sealed with mastic.

Cheers for the help

(Are thumbnails okay? I never know whether to do those or full size?)

Technically it is right but could have been better in that the slates should have been laid over the flashing and cut a few inch from the pipe and shaped around it but most likely the fitter did not know how or have the tools to be cutting slate. It will be waterproof (fingers crossed) and could be done right but you would be paying a roofer a few bob to do it.

Unfortunately the concerns proved correct and the first time it rained the roof leaked. The installer has since been back to redo it, but I still have concerns about how it’s been done and would appreciate any thoughts please...

One piece of slate has been simply stuck on top of the lead with no overlap (bottom right). A LOT of mastic have been used under and around the slates. And only a few slates were removed so not sure how he fixed them back in.

It rained last night and it looks like a small amount of water has leaked on to the stove top again. Hard to be certain as didn’t see it actually leaking.

Thanks

OP,
As above, its obvious that the slates have been incorrectly fitted.
They need lifting and cleaning of all silicone & mastic sealant.
A few new slates might be needed.
"Fix My Roof" on you tube possibly has a video showing you how it might be done.

Where the stove pipe passed through the roof then fire Regs & precautions would apply.
